Extended support for all versions of Windows XP ended on April 8, 2014 more than 12 years since the initial release of Windows XP.  Microsoft no longer provides any further security patches or bug fixes for this operating system.  Additionally, all versions of Internet Explorer are now unsupported for Windows XP and therefore will receive no further security patches.

With no ongoing security patches being released, the use of Windows XP exposes customers to significantly increased security risks. 

In addition, Windows XP has no support for Internet Explorer version 9, 10 and 11.  Internet Explorer 8 is the last version supported for Windows XP.  Due to compatibility and security issues, many contemporary web sites are designed only for IE9, IE10 and IE11, so an increasing number of web sites cannot be fully accessed from Windows XP PCs.

For the above reasons we strongly recommend customers migrate all client PCs still running Windows XP to Windows 7, 8 or 8.1 as a matter of urgency.

For the foreseeable future, NewsBoss will continue to be supported on Windows XP SP3 for customers transitioning from legacy hardware.  However, NewsBoss Versions 5.11 and later cannot be installed on Windows XP clients.

 

Windows Server 2003 is Now Obsolete and Unsupported by Microsoft

 

Microsoft terminated support for all versions of Windows Server 2003 on July 14, 2015 and is no longer providing any further security patches or bug fixes for this operating system.  In addition, all versions of Internet Explorer are now unsupported for Windows Server 2003 and will receive no further security patches.

With no ongoing security patches being released, the continued use of Windows Server 2003 exposes customers to significantly increased security risks. 

It is strongly advised that all customers utilizing Windows Server 2003 for NewsBoss systems urgently commence planning for migration to a fully supported server platform such as Windows Server 2008 R2 or Windows Server 2012 R2 before this date. 

NewsBoss Versions 5.11 and later cannot be installed on Server 2003.
