Microsoft ceased providing updates and support for the Windows 7 and Windows 2008 R2 operating systems on January 14, 2020. Additionally, Microsoft ceased providing updates and support for Windows 8.1 on January 10, 2023.
Since these dates, Windows updates (including security patches) are no longer available for these products.
NewsBoss customers are strongly advised to migrate from Windows 7 and Windows 8.1 to Windows 10 or Windows 11 and from Windows Server 2008 R2 to Windows 2016 Server or later as soon as possible to ensure maximum integrity and security of their IT infrastructure.

How This Affects NewsBoss
In January 2023 it was determined that due to security and compatibility issues, future updates to NewsBoss can no longer be supported on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.
The effect of this decision is as follows:
- NewsBoss versions up to and including V6.9.8305.15 will still be supported on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems.
- NewsBoss version V6.9.8306.15 and later cannot be installed or supported on Windows 7, Windows 8.1 or Windows 2008 R2 operating systems.
