KUOW Seattle has joined the growing number of public broadcasting stations using NewsBoss to create their news and programs.
"We needed an integrated newsroom software system and NewsBoss was the best solution," says KUOW Assistant Program Director Arvid Hokanson.
The conversion to NewsBoss enabled KUOW to make significant workflow changes to improve efficiency and flexibility.
"NewsBoss centralized the location of audio, streamlined editing and the prompter feature allowed newscasters to self-engineer."
KUOW uses NewsBoss for more than newscasts - it is also the platform used to produce the two hour NPR syndicated program The Record, which airs daily from its home studios at KUOW. The conversion to NewsBoss has greatly increased the ability to make last minute changes and spontaneous decisions live on air.
NewsBoss went on site to train all staff, and configure the system to meet the specific requirements of the many users. The result was an extremely smooth transition without missing a beat on air.
"We’ve been pleased with the technical support and ease of installation and deployment," says Arvid Hokanson.
KUOW joins many other leading public broadcasters enjoying the benefits of NewsBoss including WNYC New York, WBUR and WGBH in Boston, Vermont Public Radio, WUNC North Carolina, Texas Public Radio, WUOM Ann Arbor and Capitol Public Radio in Sacramento.
